CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (1-2, 0-2 SAC) will travel to Anderson, South Carolina to take on the Anderson University Trojans (2-2, 2-0) on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
-The Royals fell to the Carson-Newman Eagles, ranked 21st in the WBCA Preseason DII National Poll, by a score of 105-70.
Kalaya Hall led the Royals with 15 points, four assists, and three steals.
Kristy Hamze added 14 points while
Mikayla Sink totaled 13 points off the bench and three rebounds.
Kiana Barkhoff led under the glass grabbing 10 boards to go along with six blocks for the Royals.
ABOUT THE ROYALS
-Queens is currently led by Hall who is averaging 18.7 points per game this season while Hamze is averaging 11 points per game. Barkhoff is flirting with averaging a double-double recording eight points and 9.3 rebounds per game. She is also leading the charge in blocks with 12 so far this season.
-The Royals opened their season with a win over Emory & Henry. It is the first time that Queens has kicked off their season in the win column since 2015.
-Head Coach
Jen Brown is in her second season leading the Royals. Queens enters the year in rebuilding mode welcoming six newcomers to a squad of nine returners.
ABOUT THE TROJANS
-Anderson is currently on a two-game winning streak after defeating Lincoln Memorial University, 61-58, and UVA Wise, 61-40.
-The Trojans have three players who are averaging double-digits in points. Shameka McNeil is leading with 13 points per game while Diamond McDowell is averaging 10.3 points and seven rebounds per game. Taylor Hair is posting 10 points on each outing.
SERIES HISTORY
-Anderson leads the series with the Royals, 34-8. The Royals will be looking to snap a 14-game losing streak with the Trojans that dates back to Jan. 24, 2015. The Royals' last win over the Trojans came on Mar. 1, 2014.
-In their most recent matchup on Feb. 22, 2021, Queens fell 75-69. Hall finished with 24 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Christina Deng added 15 points and seven rebounds.
SAC PRESEASON POLL
-The Trojans were picked to finish fifth in this season's SAC Preseason Coaches Poll while the Royals were voted to finish 12th. Additionally, Anderson's Samantha Michael was voted to the 2021-22 SAC Women's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team.
