LOUISVILLE, KY. – Following a remarkable performance in the Queens City Invite last weekend, the Royals men and women's cross-country teams returned to the course at the Louisville Classic in Kentucky. The classic featured some of the best programs across all NCAA levels this year, including perennial contenders Michigan and Wisconsin.
The men opened the morning with an 8k in the gold event and collectively finished 14
th out of 36 programs. Coming off the South Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week honor,
Jan Lukas Becker was sensational again by finishing 17
th overall with a time of 23:53.0. Fellow teammate
Eric Keogh crossed the finish line second for the Royals and 50
th overall with a time of 24:24.5.
Erick Sanchez (24:40.0),
Remi Liberse (25:26.5) and
Adam Wright (25:40.1) rounded out the top five for the Royals respectively.
Immediately after, the women kicked off the 5k gold event and managed to finish 13
th out of 44 programs. Reigning South Atlantic Conference Runner of the Week
Fatima Alanis was spectacular again finishing first for Queens and 19
th overall at 17:05.2.
Stevie Lawrence managed to pace herself well as the graduate student finished 50
th overall at 17:38.8.
Anna Janke (18:12.4),
Madison Webster (18:29.1), and
Natalie Bash (18:37.6) rounded out the top five for Queens.
