Queens Cross Country Impresses at Adidas Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's cross country teams delivered impressive performances at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational, held in Rock Hill, S.C. The men's team cruised to victory in the 8k race, while the women secured a respectable third-place finish in the 6k against competitive fields.

"We went into the day with a specific game plan and everyone executed it to perfection," Associate Head Coach Will Crocker said. "Getting a team win is always fun, but being as dominant as the men were today is even more exciting."

MEN'S TEAM - 1ST PLACE
The Queens men's team dominated the 8k race, scoring 16 points with a near-perfect 1-2-3-4 finish. Freshman Preston Gantt set the pace, winning the race with a time of 25:04.6. He was closely followed by sophomore Victor Tvistholm Jorgensen, who placed second in 25:22.4. Senior Lance Sotelo (25:33.8) and freshman Noah Boeck (25:52.3) completed the top four sweep for the Royals, while senior Jonathan Schmidt clinched sixth place with a time of 26:10.7 to round out the scoring.

Queens' scoring order (1-2-3-4-6) secured the victory with a total of 16 points, well ahead of second-place Winthrop, which scored 49 points. The Citadel (67 points), Spartanburg Methodist (105), and South Carolina State (141) followed in third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

Queens Finishers – Men's 8k:

WOMEN'S TEAM - 3RD PLACE
The Queens women earned a third-place finish in the 6k event, tallying 81 points. Senior Sarah Watts led the Royals with a 9th-place finish in 23:32.9. Simone Mouras followed in 18th place (24:13.1), while Sarah Bradley took 27th with a time of 25:41.7. Beatty Grace Hite (28th, 25:46.4) and Marin Sullivan (29th, 25:59.6) completed the team's top five scorers.

Other Royals included Rowan Shannon (32nd, 26:13.3), Gianna Mars (34th, 27:33.6), and Brynn Fogarty (38th, 29:53.3), rounding out a strong showing for Queens.
