Will Crocker Named Head Cross Country Coach, Assistant Track & Field Coach at Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Will Crocker has been named the Head Cross Country and Assistant Track & Field coach at Queens University of Charlotte, the department announced this month. Crocker joins Queens after most recently serving as the assistant cross country and track & field coach at University of Illinois-Chicago.

"I first want to thank Coach Dragan Pesic for giving me this amazing opportunity here at Queens, and I could not be more excited to get started with this team," Crocker said. "I know there is a strong history of success here at Queens within the cross country and track & field programs and I can't wait to get started with this staff to help lead the student-athletes and keep the success going."

Crocker steps into the role with an impressive coaching resume. His recent tenure as an assistant track & field and cross country with the Flames saw him leading cross country, distance, and mid-distance athletes to new heights. Under his guidance, his athletes broke four school records and set 27 new top ten all-time performances in track & field. His influence was equally felt in cross country, with two school records and ten new all-time performances, including coaching the 2021 Cross Country Horizon League Individual Conference Champion.

Before Illinois-Chicago, Crocker made his mark at Westminster College, where he founded both the Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country programs. His leadership led to 12 All-Conference athletes and an NCAA DIII National Qualifier.

Crocker is no stranger to the Queen City. He previously served as an interim assistant coach and volunteer assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he was instrumental in overseeing middle-distance workouts, coordinating training plans and assisting with scholarship allocations and team travel planning for the 49ers.

Prior to his coaching career, Crocker was a student-athlete at the University of Missouri. He was a three-time All-SEC honoree and the 2015-16 cross country/track & field team captain. His competitive drive was evident in his performances, achieving personal bests of 1:48.99 in the 800m and 4:01.34 in the mile.

Crocker will begin coaching duties with the cross country and track & field teams immediately.
