Royals Earn 5th Consecutive NCAA Tournament Berth

Queens to face Southern Wesleyan in 1st Round on Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.
– For the fifth consecutive season and the 13th time in program history, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team earned a berth into the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, the Division II Men's Basketball Committee announced on Sunday night. The Royals were selected as the No. 2 seed in the Southeast Region and will meet seventh-seeded Southern Wesleyan University in the first round.

Queens enters the national tournament with a 24-7 overall record. The Royals earned an at-large selection after dropping the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship Game to top-seeded Lincoln Memorial University, 75-68, on Sunday, a loss that ended a season-best 10-game winning streak. Queens is currently ranked No. 23 nationally in the D2SIDA Media Poll and tied for 25th in the NABC Coaches Poll.

The Royals have advanced out of the tournament's first round in each of their previous four trips, having reached the regional title game the last three years and the Elite Eight the last two years.

Lincoln Memorial earned the No. 1 seed in the Southeast Region and will host the regional tournament at Tex Turner Arena in Harrogate, Tennessee. Regional quarterfinal games will be played on Saturday, Mar. 14 and semifinal games on Sunday, Mar. 15. The Southeast Regional Championship Game will be played on Tuesday night, Mar. 17.
