CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte head men's basketball coach
Grant Leonard is thrilled to announce the signing of Josh Osayanrhion to the 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon. Osayanrhion comes to the Queen City following a season at North Platte Community College in Nebraska.
"I'm excited to hit the ground running with Queens," said Osayanrhion. "I've always dreamt of playing at the Division 1 level, so it means a lot to get this kind of opportunity. I can't wait to compete and impact winning."
This past season, Osayanrhion appeared in 28 games for the Knights and averaged 8.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. The 6-8 forward turned in four double-doubles on the season, including a 16-point and 11-rebound effort against Western Nebraska Community College. Osayanrhion poured in double figures in 11 games, including a season-high 17 points against Trinidad State College.
Osayanrhion, a native of Tralee, Ireland, brings high-level experience to the Royals program after competing for Team Ireland in the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2024 Division B in Skopje, North Macedonia. Osayanrhion appeared in eight games for his home country and averaged 10.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists. Osayanrhion led the team in scoring and reached double figures in four outings, including 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting against Georgia. In the finale, Osayanrhion posted a double-double against Iceland with 12 points and 10 rebounds as he finished second on the team in rebounding.
"Josh is a player with a huge ceiling," said head coach
Grant Leonard. "He is a very athletic and skilled player who is just scratching the surface on how great he will be."
Osayanrhion will join a Royals program that is coming off its first ASUN Tournament Championship and first appearance in the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The historic season saw the Royals post a 21-14 record, marking the second straight season with at least 20 wins. Queens clinched the third seed in the ASUN Tournament before defeating top-seeded Central Arkansas in overtime in the title game.
