CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte head men's basketball coach
Grant Leonard is excited to welcome Matthew Sullivan to the 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon. Sullivan joins the Royals following two seasons at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Sullivan helped Triton to a 29-6 record as a freshman, appearing in 25 games and averaging 4.1 points and 1.6 rebounds. The Trojans finished a perfect 16-0 at home that season and reached the second round of the NJCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Championship. Sullivan got his first start against Harry S. Truman College on February 6, 2025, and turned in a season-high 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting from downtown while adding a season-high seven rebounds.
Year two in River Grove proved to be a huge jump for the 6-5 guard, as Sullivan averaged 12.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across 31 appearances. Sullivan poured in double figures in 17 games, including eight games with 20+ points. Against Indian Hills on January 13
th, Sullivan netted a career-high 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting. In his second season, Sullivan shot a team-best 41 percent from behind the arc and buried three triples in 15 different games, including a 7-for-10 performance against Richard J. Daley College on January 27
th.
"Matt is a player who plays through his jump shot, is a great shooter, has great length for his position, and is getting better and better every year," said head coach
Grant Leonard. "The Queens community will love watching him play."
Sullivan will join a Royals program that is coming off its first ASUN Tournament Championship and first appearance in the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The historic season saw the Royals post a 21-14 record, marking the second straight season with at least 20 wins. Queens clinched the third seed in the ASUN Tournament before defeating top-seeded Central Arkansas in overtime in the title game.
