Box Score 2 St. Augustine, Fla. - The Queens University of Charlotte softball team (10-11) lost both games in their Sunday doubleheader at Flagler College losing game one, 5-2 and game two, 8-2.
Game One: Flagler 5 Queens 2
The Royals took an early lead on a two run single from
Alyssa Strickler in the top of the third inning to propel Queens ahead 2-1. Flagler recovered the lead with a four-run fourth inning forcing the Royals to play from behind. Despite nine hits, Queens was unable to piece together a comeback and lost by a 5-2 final score. Starting pitcher
Courtney Pearson allowed just five hits in a complete six-inning outing.
Game Two: Flagler 8 Queens 2
Five hits and five runs by Flagler in the bottom of the third inning put them in the driver's seat. Queens chipped away at the 5-0 deficit when
Jordan Hunt bashed a two-run homer in the top of the fifth to trail 5-2. Flagler answered with a three-run home run of their own to put the game away winning by a final score of 8-2.
Queens remains in Florida and heads to Daytona Beach for a doubleheader with Embry-Riddle University Tuesday, March 3rd at 4 p.m.
