WINGATE, N.C. – The 20
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team fell at the hands of No. 12 University of North Georgia by a 4-2 score in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at the WU Tennis Complex.
North Georgia, the region's fourth overall seed, picked up the first point of the day by winning two of three doubles matches in the third and first flights, respectively.
Singles play began with a 6-4, 6-2 win from sophomore
Sasha Davidzenka in the second flight over the nation's No. 23 singles player to give the Royals their first point of the match. Senior
Hannah Lehfeldt was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at No. 6 to put Queens ahead by a point.
However, the Nighthawks stormed back with wins at Nos. 1, 4, and 5 to rally for the postseason win and avenge a regular season loss to Queens.
The Royals end the 2018-19 season with a 14-5 overall record, including an 8-2 mark in South Atlantic Conference play and a 12-5 record against regional opponents.
