No. 16 Women's Tennis Earns Fourth Shutout of Season

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The No. 16 Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team collected its third straight South Atlantic Conference win, defeating Newberry College 7-0 on Saturday at the Howard Levine Tennis Center.
 
Queens won all three matchups in doubles play, beginning with a dominating 6-0 win by the nation's No. 11 duo of Sasha Davidzenka and Yana Fleyer. The team of Isabel Fornies and Viktorija Veselinova won 6-3, while the tandem of Caity Klaassen and Hannah Lehfeldt were 7-6 (7-2) winners.
 
Lehfeldt kicked off singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6, followed by a 6-1, 6-2 win from Fornies in the third flight. Davidzenka, the No. 69 singles player in the nation, was a 6-1, 6-3 winner.
 
Fleyer pulled a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) upset over the nation's 73rd-ranked singles player, while Klaassen and Veselinova finished off the sweep with wins at No. 5 and No. 4, respectively.
 
The Royal go out of conference for their next match as they hit the road to take on No. 41 USC Aiken on Monday, April 8 in Aiken, S.C.
