CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The No. 17 Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team was upset by No. 37 Tusculum University, 5-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the Howard Levine Tennis Center.
Playing without one its top performers, Queens was swept in doubles play to fall behind 1-0 early on.
Tusculum, winners of five straight South Atlantic Conference matches, was up 3-0 in the contest after opening singles play with back-to-back wins. However, Queens junior
Isabel Fornies collected a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 to put the Royals on the scoreboard.
Freshman
Viktorija Veselinova followed with a 7-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 to cut the deficit in half, but the Pioneers secured the road win with two more singles victories.
The Royals hit the road on Saturday, March 30, for their next match in Harrogate, Tennessee. First serve against Lincoln Memorial University is set for 10 a.m.
