WINGATE, N.C. – The No. 23 Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team suffered its first South Atlantic Conference loss of the season on Wednesday afternoon, falling to No. 19 Wingate University on the road.
The Royals went ahead early in the match, picking up appoint after winning two of three doubles contests. The No. 3 duo of Handnah Lehfeldt and
Viktorija Veselinova won 6-3 before the 8
th-ranked tandem of
Sasha Davidzenka and
Yana Fleyer earned a 6-4 victory over Wingate's 18
th-ranked doubles team.
However, the Bulldogs secured six singles points, including three matches that took three sets to complete, in remaining perfect on the season.
The Royals remain in conference for their next contest, a matchup with Anderson University (S.C.) on Saturday, March 23 at the Howard Levine Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
