SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA DII Championships this morning in Sacramento, California grabbing two top 25 finishes as the 14
th-ranked men earned eighth place and the women took 21
st place. Additionally, Hanna Wolkenhauer,
Anthony Raftis, and
Yannik Duppich each earned All-American honors.
Queens' women totaled 551 points with Wolkenhauer, a senior, earning all-American honors for the second time in her career after claiming 29
th place individually in 20:52.6.
Madison Webster followed crossing the finish line in 22:02.4 for 139
th place while
Natane Deruytter clocked a time of 22:11.0 for 150
th place.
Stevie Lawrence-Wrist finished 152
nd in 22:12.5 and
Gillian Kasitz finished the string in 173
rd with a time of 22:27.1.
Mandi Moxie (22:28.7) and
Allyson Arellano (22:51) also ran at the meet.
No 1 Adams State totaled 23 points to dominate the women's field and come out as national champions.
The Royal men totaled 280 points to grab their 3
rd top-10 finish in a row at the Championships. Raftis, a senior, repeated as an All-American after he recorded a time of 30:38.7 to finish 36
th. Duppich followed in 40
th with a time of 30:43.3 to earn All-American honors for the first time in his career.
Seb Anthony finished 74
th in 31:17.6 while
Nick Kipkemei clocked in at 31:22 for 81
st place.
Felix Wammetsberger completed the Royals' point total with a 104
th-place finish in 31:37.6.
Erick Sanchez (32:31.2) and
Lance Sotelo (32.52.7) also raced at the meet.
Colorado School of the Mines won the men's national title with point total of 57.
