CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The fourth-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's swimming team opened Day One of the 2019 Sheraton/Le Meridien Fall Frenzy with two wins on Friday night at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
The night started with a second-place finish in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay from the team of
Alex Kunert,
Skyler Cook-Weeks,
Marcus Rogers, and
Brody Heck with a Division II 'B' cut time of 1:20.43.
Kunert picked up an individual win, taking gold in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a Division I 'B' standard time of 4:22.79, while four other Royals turned in 'B' cuts in the race.
Sophomore
Jan Delkeskamp won the 200-Yard I.M., reaching the wall in 1:48.14 to qualify for the national meet and four other Royals collected Division II 'B' cuts in the 50-Yard Freestyle. The foursome of
Finn Howard, Delkeskamp, Kunert, and Heck turned in a Division II 'B' standard of 3:16.24 in the 400-Yard Medley Relay to earn second place.
Day Two of the Fall Frenzy begins tomorrow morning with prelims at 9:30 a.m. followed by the finals at 5 p.m.
