GREENEVILLE, TENN. – The 37th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team suffered another South Atlantic Conference loss on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-4 to No. 13 Tusculum College at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Royals were in front 2-1 following the conclusion of doubles play as freshmen Yana Fleyer and Sasha Davidzenka took the No. 1 spot winning 8-4 over the nation's 14th-ranked doubles team of Annie and Caitlin McCullough. Senior Carlotta Nassi and sophomore Isabel Fornies took the No. 2 spot winning 8-4 as well.

Singles play was where the Pioneers took control, winning four out of the six matchups. Fleyer, thre 75th-ranked singles player, moved her winning streak to 13 in a row, taking the No. 2 spot in two sets 6-4, 6-0 over Franziska Funke, the nation's No. 31 singles player.

Tusculum picked up a singles win before Nassi won her matchup in the No. 1 position, winning in three sets 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.

With Queens leading 4-2 in the match, the Pioneers sealed the home win with triumphs in the final three singles' contests, ending the match with a three-set win at No. 5 to remain undefeated on the year.

"I am proud of our team," said Head Coach Billy Boykin. "We were a couple of points away from beating the 13th-ranked team in the nation. I give credit to Tusculum for a really gutsy finish."

The Royals will travel to Hickory, N.C. next to battle Lenoir-Rhyne University on Wednesday, April 11. Play is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
