Queens Takes Top Spot at Royals Twilight

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte cross country program earned victories in both the men's and women's team competitions at the Royals Twilight at Freedom Park on Saturday night.

The men's team compiled a team score of 28 and ran in a total time of 1:15:48, with the University of North Carolina at Pembroke finishing second with a score of 52. The Queens Triathlon team ran in third place with a score of 72 and a total time of 1:18:46.

The women's team compiled a team score of 21 and a total time of 1:29:48, also topping UNC-Pembroke who scored a 70. Queens women's tri took third with a score of 82 and a time of 1:38:32.

Nick Kipkemei posted the best finish for the Queens men, running the 5k in a time of 14:53 to take second place, just seconds ahead of teammate Felix Wammetsberger who took third place running in 15:00.

Lucie Noall won the women's race finishing in 17:19, with teammate Hannah Wolkenhauer finishing just behind in second.

The Royals next compete on Saturday Sept.16 in the Stegemoller Classic hosted by the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana.
