Queens to Take on Regis in NCAA Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team will take on No. 8 Regis University in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championships tomorrow at Lindenwood University. The Rangers were seeded fourth in the South while Queens, ranked ninth in the nation, earned the No. 5 seed. No. 3 Lindenwood received the top seed in the South and will serve as the host.
 
Queens sits at 16-3 on the year after securing their fourth straight South Atlantic Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles. After completing the regular season undefeated at 8-0 in league play, the Royals went on to defeat Wingate 16-0 in the tournament title game.
 
Sophomore attacker Hanna Scott leads the Royals with 70 points this season on 45 goals and 25 assists. Kelly Dowd follows with 62 points on 40 goals and 22 assists. Dowd also leads in ground balls (66), caused turnovers (42), and draw controls (68). Leading Queens in goals this year is Alexandra Bruder who totals 51 on the year. Chase Brokaw leads in the cage with 108 saves and a .472 save percentage. Her goals-against average is 7.09.
 
The Rangers hold a 17-2 record after topping Lindenwood, 13-11, in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship for their second RMAC Tournament Championships in program history. This is their first appearance at the NCAA Championships.
 
Regis leads the nation in points per game this season averaging 25.79 points per game this season. Sarah Myres leads the Rangers with 80 points this season on 35 goals and 45 assists. Erin Todd, Ali Vanek, and Wendy Donier follow with 66, 65, and 63 points, respectively. Goalkeepers Court Huston and Kenley Harrington have split time in the net for much of the season. Huston has a save percentage of .466 and a goals-against average of 7.71, while Harrington's save percentage sits at .385 and her goals-against average is 8.58.
