HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The nationally 50th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team extended their win streak to four matches as they blanked Coker College, 9-0, on Sunday, April 9.
"Today was a good day for our team," said head coach
Billy Boykin. "We competed well at every position."
The Royals (10-3, 8-2) swept through the doubles claiming all three points against the Cobras (6-8, 4-6). The No. 1 and No. 2 QU duos both claimed 8-4 wins over Coker. While the third line finished off a perfect 3-0 start with an 8-3 victory.
Isabel Fornies put QU further ahead with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win at the sixth spot.
Carlotta Nassi then dropped Coker's Jennifer Ruetten 6-0, 6-3 at the top flight.
Marta Gonzalez and
Melissa Laing proved too tough at the second and third flights, respectively, as they pushed the Queens lead to 7-0.
Caroline Nielsen and
Hannah Lehfeldt rounded off a perfect day for the Royals as they won by the finals of 8-1 and 8-0, correspondingly, in pro sets.
The Royals will be back in action this upcoming Wednesday, April 12 when they host North Carolina A&T State University at Freedom Park.
