CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The eighth-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team will face second-seeded Wingate University tomorrow in the South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship at Dickson Field. The appearance in the championship game is the fourth in a row for the Royals as they have won three straight.
Queens advanced after defeating Lenoir-Rhyne this afternoon by a score of 18-8 led by
Ally Blood and
Alexandra Bruder who totaled four goals each.
Abigail Paulus and
Hanna Scott each recorded hat tricks.
Katie Pawlikowski scored two goals, and
Shannon Mansberger and
Kelly Dowd recording one goal each. Scott also led in assists with three.
The Bulldogs advanced after coming back from behind to top Coker College 15-14. Casey Roux scored the game-winner with 7:41 left to play. She finished the game with three goals while Paulena Dempsey added four goals. Joanna King also recorded a hat trick in the win.
Queens took the regular season meeting by a score of 17-7 to secure their fourth-straight regular season title. Both Dowd and Bruder recorded five goals each, while Scott added four goals.
Ally Blood led with two assists and five draw controls, while Bruder totaled five caused turnovers.
Shannon O'Neal led the Bulldogs with four goals, while Dempsey scored two and Brittany Andrews chipped in with one.
The Royals will play for the SAC Championship title on Saturday at 5 p.m.
