CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team won a third successive conference match, with a score of 9-0, against the Brevard Tornados to send them into a short break with an overall record of 3-1 and a South Atlantic Conference record of 3-0. Brevard would drop to 0-7 overall and 0-5 within league play.
The Royals started the match with a 3-0 lead over the Tornados, who had to default one doubles and two singles matches due to injuries. Jacklyn Rock and
Jacklyn Pfuhl opened up with an 8-0 win at the No. 2 doubles against Brevard's Carmen Boone and Katie Hatter. The Royals' No. 1 duo,
Hannah Lehfeldt and
Claire Hamilton defeated Kelsey Kushner and Sam Miranda from Brevard 8-1.
In singles play, the Royals did not miss a beat, with
Carlotta Nassi,
Marta Gonzalez,
Melissa Laing, and
Isabel Fornies all winning their matches 6-0, 6-0.
Ana Bolson and
Jaclyn Rock would both gain victories through defaults to round off a strong display from the women's tennis team.
The Royals will be back in action as they travel to Johnson C. Smith University on Thursday, March 9
th, for a 1 p.m., start time.
