BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team fell to their division I matchup today, the Gardner Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, 6-1. Queens moved to a 1-1 record on the year after the competition while the Runnin' Bulldogs posted a 3-2 overall record.
 
Playing the division I format with a lone deciding point in doubles play, the Royals found themselves on the defensive after Gardner-Webb swept the courts despite courts 2 and 3 grabbing four games.
 
In singles play, Caroline Nielsen was the only Royals player to find a victory as she tallied mirroring 6-4 sets in the fourth slot.
 
Additionally, Carlotta Nassi, No. 1 singles, and Marta Gonzalez, No. 2 singles, took their matches into three sets against their division I counterparts.
 
Queens will face conference opponent Lenoir-Rhyne on Thursday, February 23. The Royals return home for the competition and will start play at 1 p.m.
