CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte cross country program ran two athletes at the Queen City Invitational on Friday, hosted by Queens at McAlpine Creek Park.
On the women's side,
Aleksa Heeley ran the 5k course in 19:38.0 to finish in 36
th place in the 104 runner field. On the men's side,
Raymond Morrison ran the 8k course in 33:07.0.
"I was happy with how Lexie and Ray did tonight," said cross country coach
Kevin Licht. "Lexie ran a significant personal best and broke 20 minutes for the first time in her career. It was a successful end to the regular season, and we're looking forward to the conference championship next weekend."
Davidson College won the team competition on the women's side totaling 19 points, led by the performance of Sarah Sears who won the race with a time of 16:50.0. The University of Mount Olive took home the men's title with a score of 31. Davidson's Ritchie Ramsay won the race, running in 24:10.0.
The Royals next compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championship on Oct. 21, in Newton, North Carolina.
