JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — The Queens University of Charlotte cross country teams dominated this week's Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) awards, sweeping all four honors announced Wednesday by the league office.
On the men's side, Danny Raymond earned both Runner and Freshman of the Week accolades after leading Queens at the Royals Classic. The freshman standout posted a career-best 8K time of 24:58.81, finishing 15th overall in a competitive 19-team field. His performance marked the first sub-25-minute race of his Royals career and helped the team to a seventh-place finish, topping programs such as Presbyterian, Tusculum, and conference rival Jacksonville.
For the women, Weronika Ptaszynska claimed Runner of the Week honors after placing 11th overall with a time of 17:42.77, the fastest mark among all ASUN competitors.
Laura Marioni followed closely behind in 12th at 17:43.46, earning Freshman of the Week recognition for the first time in her career. The duo powered Queens to a third-place team finish, trailing only nationally ranked Northern Michigan and Catawba.
