Greenville, Tenn.- The No. 42-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team (10-3, 8-2 SAC) fell to the No. 44 ranked Tusculum Pioneers (19-3, 10-1 SAC) on Friday, April 15, 2016, in a 6-3 match. The match would previously be played on March 5, but was suspended due to rain. Tusculum held a 3-1 heading into today's play.
Tusculum found two doubles wins and a singles win on that prior date before rain halted the competition.
Claire Hamilton and
Hannah Lehfeldt's doubles point on court three gave the team the lone point on March 5.
Picking up where they left off, the Royals worked to make up ground but would fall shy. Tusculum took a win on court five to move a step closer but
Caroline Nielsen rallied for a 7-6, 6-3 victory in the No. 4 spot to keep the team alive. The next point, however, would go to Tusculum to claim the win on court one.
Melissa Laing would also see a victory in the day's events as she took the third court in three sets. She battled to take Erin Mills in a 2-6, 6-4, 4-0(10-8) match.
The Royals will hold their last match of the regular season on Sunday, April 17, against Newberry College. The match will be held at Freedom Park at 1:30 p.m.
