Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team, ranked 14th in the nation, hosted No.11 Florida Southern falling to the Moccasins 14-6 as the competition would show a tale of two halves. The loss for Queens brings their record to 5-2 on the season, while Florida Southern improves to 6-3.
Hanna Scott led the Royals this afternoon with two goals to go along with her two assist, while both
Maggie Masters and
Shannon Mansberger scored solo goals.
The first half was a very competitive half. Within the first two minutes the Moccasins were on the board with a goal from Ashley Robertson. The Royals would respond just a minute later with a goal from Mansberger. The teams would trade goals back in forth until the Moccasins created a little space with a two goal lead just before the half. The halftime score would be 7-5.
After Florida Southern opened up the second half with three goals, the Royals would then find the back of the net when
Maggie Masters scored with nine to play in the game. Unfortunately for the Royals, Masters had the lone goal of the half as Florida Southern went to claim the game 14-6
Queens outshot Florida Southern 24-23, but were edge 18-16 in shots on goal. Queens also led the game in ground balls with a total of 19, while the Moccasins grabbed 18s.
Christine Wiese took the loss in goal, while grabbing four saves for the game. Moccasins goalie of Taylor Gillis was credited with the win, after grabbing 10 saves.
Florida Southern's Ashley Robertson led all scorers of the game with five goals.
Queens is back at home Saturday, March 26 against Lincoln Memorial University at 3 p.m.
