Box Score 2 Duncan, S.C. - Despite claiming the first run of the day, the Queens University of Charlotte softball team (5-9 overall) fell to Bellarmine University (10-10 overall) 2-1 on Sunday, February 28, 2016, in the team's first game of the day during the Mid-South Classic.
Taking advantage of an error by Bellarmine's second baseman,
Taylor Rosenbalm reached home in the team's first at bat. The Knights would equal the game in the bottom of the second finding a double from Olivia Russell to bring home Marlee Tevis.
The two teams stayed equal until the bottom of the seventh when a single from Kelly Ely brought home Rachel Fox for the win.
Queens tallied four runs during the game, leaving four runners on base. Defensively, they stranded seven runners for Bellarmine.
Evie Scott pitched the first 1.1 innings, giving up two hits and one earned run.
Catelyn Presley (1-3) took the loss for the team pitching 4.2 innings for six hits and one unearned run.
Ally Foster pitched seven innings for the Knights to tally four hits and one run during the game.
In game two of the day, the team would tally a 5-1 loss to Armstrong Atlantic seeing a run from
Sydney Ditto. Armstrong State secured three runs in the seventh inning.
Queens will host Belmont Abbey on March 2. The double-header will be held at Park Road Park beginning at 2 p.m.
