SAINT LEO, Fla.- The Queens University of Charlotte men's cross country team tallied a 31
st place team finish on Saturday, November 19, 2016, competing in the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships. The Royals ran against 242 athletes on the national stage and competed against 32 different teams in the competition.
"The men did not compete as well as we had hoped," said Cross Country Coach
Tsehaye Baney. "The goals this season were to first make it to nationals and then continue to progress from our team's finish the past year [32
nd overall]. Although we did move up in the team rankings it was not as high as we would of liked. The take away from this meet for our men's team, was really getting them to understand how to position themselves throughout the race and not allow the race to get away from them. Overall I am happy to have been able to bring both the men's and women's teams back to nationals and have us move up a spot in the men's rankings. The future is bright and we now turn our focus to the indoor and outdoor track season with the hope to qualify several distance athletes for the national meet."
Adams State took the top finish in the event securing four of their runners inside the first 15 finishers for 54 total points. Grand Valley St. tallied 79 points for second followed by Colorado Mines in third with a score of 153. The Royals concluded the day with 832 points.
