Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Queens University of Charlotte traveled to face Carson-Newman College in women's soccer action this afternoon falling 2-1 to the Eagles. The loss brings the Royals' record to 3-5-1 on the year and 1-2-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Eagles improve to 6-1 on the year and remain undefeated in SAC play at 4-0 with the win.
After a goal scored by Carson-Newman's Nikki McWilliams in the 21
st minute put the Eagles ahead 1-0 at the half, the midfielder then put her team ahead with her second goal of the day in the 73
rd minute.
Trailing 2-0 with just 17 minutes to play and feeling the pressure, Queens found a goal when freshman forward
Charlotte Ring put the ball in the back of the net from 30 yards out in the 84
th minute of play. A corner kick in the 88
th presented the Royals with their final chance to tie the game up, but the shot would go wide of the net.
The Royals were outshot 19-9 this afternoon, though the shot on goal count was much closer at 5-3 in the Eagles' favor. Ring completed the game leading the Royals with five shots.
Tori Danchak took the loss in the net after totaling three saves. Jessica Fraiture of Carson-Newman recorded two saves.
Queens will take a break on Wednesday before jumping back into action on Saturday when they host Lenoir-Rhyne University at the Queens Sports Complex at 1 p.m.
