Second-Half Surge Lifts Winthrop Past Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Winthrop University on Thursday evening at the Queens Sports Complex. The Royals move to 0-3-1 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 2-2-1.

Turning Point
The two sides remained scoreless through the opening 35 minutes before Winthrop broke through on an own goal to take a 1-nil advantage into halftime. The Eagles quickly extended their lead after the break as Zaria Winston found the back of the net just 28 seconds into the second half before adding her second goal of the night in the 48th minute. Ashley Ross added the final tally in the 66th minute to seal the 4-0 decision.
