Box Score DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team faced a tough opponent this afternoon in No. 11 University of North Georgia falling 3-0 to the Nighthawks on the road. The loss brings the Royals' record to 2-3, while the Nighthawks remain undefeated on the year at 4-0.
Queens' goalkeepers had a busy day in goal as
Tori Danchak registered nine saves in 63:43 and
Emily Mager tallied one save in 26:17 off of the Nighthawks' 13 shots on goal. The seniors faced a total of 29 shots from North Georgia's offensive attack.
North Georgia's first goal of the day was scored off of a corner by Jacy Ramey in the 16
th minute of action, giving the home team a 1-0 lead which they carried into the break.
A pair of goals scored in the 49
th minute of play within 24 seconds of each other would then help secure the Nighthawks' win over Queens. The first would come from Mollie Arrendale from 20 yards out, while the second came from Ramey once again as she was able to finish a deflected shot.
The Royals finished the day with a pair of shots of goal; the first coming from the boot of sophomore midfielder
Alana Jefferson in the first minute of play. The second was taken by sophomore defender
Madison Kroger in the 75
th minute. Both attempts were turned away by North Georgia goalkeeper, Mallory Sayre.
Queens will return home to Dickson Field on Wednesday evening as they open up South Atlantic Conference play against Tusculum College at 5 p.m.
