Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team extended their win streak to six this evening after picking up a 22-3 road win over Newberry College. The win helps the Royals remain undefeated in South Atlantic Conference play at 7-0 while also improving their overall record to 10-4. The Wolves drop to 5-9 on the year and 2-5 in league play with the loss.
Senior attacker
Jena Ready led the Royals with a season-high seven goals. She also recorded two assists, and 11 draw controls.
Brittany Larranaga also had a standout night scoring a career-high six goals to go along with one assist and three draw controls.
Abigail Paulus added a hat trick and four assists, and
Alexandra Bruder scored two goals.
On the defensive end,
Bridgette Larranaga led the Royals with four ground balls, five caused turnovers and two draw controls. Goalkeeper
Danielle Horoschak took the win in goal after totaling three saves in 30 minutes of action.
After allowing Newberry to score the first goal of the game at 28:38, the Royals responded with 13 unanswered goals to take a 13-1 lead with 8:01 on the clock. Each team then put one more point on the board before the half to give the game a 14-2 score at the break.
The Wolves began the second half like they started the game, scoring a goal 2:13 into play. Fortunately, Queens would be able hold Newberry scoreless for the remainder of play, while putting eight more balls in the back of the net.
Queens outshot the Wolves 33-9, and totaled 24 ground balls to Newberry's 15. The Royals also dominated the draw winning 19 to Newberry's eight.
Ajahna Grosvenor, Jessica Baxtrom and Tessa Davis each scored one goal on the day for the Wolves. Morgan Raffaele recorded four saves in the loss.
The Royals will be back in action on Saturday at Tusculum. The game against the Pioneers is set to begin at noon.
