Brevard, N.C. – Working their way into the finals for the South Atlantic Conference, No. 28-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis (16-3, 7-3 SAC) forced five singles courts into a third set but would fall to the No. 49-ranked Wingate Bulldogs (26-18, 13-9 SAC) 5-3.
Although
Jaclyn Rock and
Claire Hamilton secured Court 3 with an 8-2 win, Wingate took the advantage in the double matches seeing wins on both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
Carlotta Nassi would take the next point off the board to make it a 2-2 match with a win on Court 1 going 6-4, 6-3. Her court would be the only singles match to not see a third set.
Wingate grabbed the next court seeing a win for the No. 5 Singles but Queens was there with a response with
Marta Gonzalez taking a win on Court 3. Gonzalez fought through set one taking a 7-6 (7-3) win before falling in set two. Gonzalez would rally to take a 6-3 win in set three to even the score. Wingate however would close out the next two matches to take the win.
