Brevard, N.C. – The #28-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team (16-2, 9-2 SAC) advanced to the final round of the South Atlantic Conference on Friday, April 17, 2015, after knocking off the #31 ranked Tusculum College Pioneers (18-3, 10-1 SAC) with a 5-2 win.
Taking two of the doubles courts,
Carlotta Nassi and
Melissa Laing took the first point with an 8-4 win for the No. 1 Doubles court.
Jaclyn Rock and
Claire Hamilton combined to take down the No. 3 spot with a 9-8 victory putting the game in favor of the Royals.
Entering singles, Nassi would find the first match for the Royals with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Tusculum's Kealee Heffner. Rock would drop the opening set to Pioneers' Sarah Baker 6-4, but would rally to win the next set at 6-1. Rock would take the win off a withdrawal.
Caroline Nielsen took the final point at No. 4 singles with her 7-5, 6-4 victory over Hutchinson to secure Queens a ticket for the championship match. .
Queens will meet the #49 Wingate Bulldogs on the court tomorrow for a noon start time.
