Brevard, N.C. – No. 28-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis (15-2, 9-2 SAC) advanced to the next round of conference play on Thursday, April 16
th, 2015, after gaining a 5-2 victory against the Cobras from Coker College (10-12, 6-5 SAC) in the quarterfinal round of the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Championship.
Sweeping the doubles courts, Queens's
Jaclyn Rock and
Claire Hamilton took the first point with an 8-4 win for the No. 3 Doubles court.
Carlotta Nassi and
Melissa Laing combined to take down the No. 1 spot with an 8-4 victory putting the game in favor of the Royals before Court 2 saw
Marta Gonzalez and Caroline Nielson grab an 8-2 win over Bailey Palmer and Ragan Palmer.
Ahead by three points, Nielson swept Sarah Elliot from Coker in the No. 4 singles going 6-0, 6-0. Gonzalez laid claim to the deciding match as she battled Jessi Campos 7-5, 6-4 to take the No. 3 Singles spot for the Royals win.
Queens will meet second seed Tusculum on the courts for a 1 p.m. match time.
