Harrogate, Tenn. – In a 9-0 victory, the #28 Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team (13-2, 8-2 SAC) took down the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial (5-8, 3-7 SAC) on Saturday, April 11, 2015.
The Royals took an early 3-0 lead starting with
Carlotta Nassi and
Melissa Laing holding the top court to an 8-5 victory against Elena Vasilyeva and Gemma Goodland.
Marta Gonzalez and
Caroline Nielsen shutout Summer Robinson and Angelica Solano out of court 2 taking the 8-0 win.
Jaclyn Rock and Clair Hamilton closed off the pairs with an 8-3 win on Court 3 over Priscilla Boulandres and Roksolana Prudyvus.
Queens quickly found their remaining two points allowing for their last two matchups to play a one-set match to eight. Nassi started the team off with a 6-3, 6-2 No. 1 Singles win against Vasilyeva. Laing followed, overcoming a 7-5 first set to take a 6-4 second set match win. Gonzalez took mirroring 6-2 set wins for Court 3 while Nielsen grabbed a 6-1, 6-2 win on Court 4. Rock and Hamilton both secured the sweep taking the No. 5 and No. 6 Singles, respectively. Rock found a stunning 8-0 win over Robinson. Hamilton confidently took an 8-4 win against Solano to end the day.
The Royals will hold their last regular season game tomorrow, at Freedom Park. The team hosts Lenoir-Rhyne for a 1 p.m. match time.
