Charlotte, N.C. – It was a dominate performance on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, as Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis (10-1, 5-1 SAC) trump the Lions of Mars Hill (4-8, 1-6 SAC) with an 8-1 score.
The team jumped out, taking all three doubles wins to start competition.
Marta Gonzalez and
Caroline Nielsen combined for a shutout performance in the No. 2 spot against Jade Henke and Grace Diepenbrock for an 8-0 win.
Jaclyn Rock and
Claire Hamilton followed this up with a win in the No. 3 doubles position against Natalie Hilbig and Juliana Fisher, taking the matchup 8-2. Completing the pairings,
Carlotta Nassi and
Melissa Laing played in unison to take the No. 1 spot with an 8-2 score.
Nassi would take the first point off a retirement from Mars Hill on the top court, to give Queens four total in the match and looking for their next victory. Nielsen took the credit giving the team the winning point. She defeated Jada Henke for the No. 4 spot with a 6-0, 6-1 topping.
Laing found a win for the No. 2 court going 6-2, 6-1 against Juliana Fisher. In another dominate performance, Gonzalez secured the win over Lucy McLaurin on court 3 with a 6-2, 6-3 score.
Jasmine Woods took the team's final point finding her way into an 8-4 win in the No. 6 position.
Queens will take to the courts again on Thursday as they travel to Coker College to face the Cobras.
