Box Score 2 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens softball team hosted former conference foe the University of Mount Olive Trojans today. Despite a howling wind and brisk temperatures both team's offenses could not be cooled off and combined for 42 runs on 55 hits in just 12 innings. With the final out recorded the teams split the doubleheader with Queens taking game one in five innings 13-4, and the Trojans holding off a charging home team for a 13-12 win in game two.
Game OneIn game one the ever steady senior
Ashley Rollins took to the circle, and was able to limit the Trojans to just four earned runs on four hits, while striking out five. With the Royals holding a lead the entire game, she settled into a groove and cruised to a win in five innings.
Offensively the Royals sprayed the ball all over the field, and forced the visitors to go through three pitchers in just four innings.

Kaitlyn Bodine,
Samantha Martinez, and
Whitney Britt all turned in multiple hits, with Britt leading the team with four RBI's. Overall the Royals finished the game with 13 hits, including two monster home runs hit by Britt and
Amanda Meade.
Game TwoIn game two the Royals found themselves in a major hole following a seven run third inning by the Trojans. While they were able to continuously battle back, they ultimately fell one run short of tying the game.
Despite the loss the Royals turned in one of their best offensive efforts all year when they combined for 20 hits and 12 runs in seven innings. Highlighting the game was Meade who went 4-5 with two home runs. Joining her with multiple hits were Rosenbalm, Bodine,
Micaela Hayes,
Kaitlyn Cheek,
Robyn Levine, and Britt.
The Royals are now 14-16 on the year and 2-6 in conference play.
