Charlotte, NC -Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's swimming programs land second nationally according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) who released their first ranking of four on Thursday, November 13, 2014.
The Royals took second place on both sides of the poll after putting together a competitive fall schedule. The teams went undefeated in dual meets against Division II opponents while taking on several Division I institutions including Davidson College and the University of Tennessee.
Head Coach
Jeff Dugdale commented on the news by stating, "It is a great honor for Queens University of Charlotte to be recognized nationally for the swims that we have had thus far this year. I remind both our swimmers and staff that our season is 24 weeks and although the CSCAA polling is needed and appreciated, our goal is where we finish the week of March 11th through 14th in Indianapolis, Ind. A huge thank you goes out to our families for their continued support traveling around with us as well as our strength coach
Darin Tyson, our Physiologist Dr. Amy Knab, and our administration who consistently encourages the right balance for our student-athletes to thrive."
Queens claimed respect with their top level performances, holding nine NCAA Division II fastest times.
Matthew Josa ranked atop the NCAA Division II swimmers for the 100 Yard Backstroke, 200 Yard Backstroke, 200 Yard Butterfly and 200 Individual Medley.
