Morgan notches 11 saves in Royals loss

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte fell in a hard fought match this evening to Lincoln Memorial by a score of 1-0 at Dickson Field. The Royals now sit at 3-4 in South Atlantic Conference play and 3-9 on the season as the Railsplitters' record improves to 3-2-2 in the SAC and 6-3-2 on the year.
 
Queens put all five of their first half shots on goal, but would end the half scoreless as Marcel Barwanietz turned each ball away. Queens' Montrell Morgan was just as good in goal during the half, notching five saves to block each of the Railsplitters' shots on goal. The Railsplitters headed into the break with seven total shots.
 
Lincoln Memorial would turn up their offensive pressure in the second half, outshooting the Royals 12-5 during the period. A shot in the 62nd minute from George Burne would result in a goal for the Railsplitters, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead that would hold until the end of regulation.
 
Queens' Montrell Morgan totaled a season-high 11 saves in today's loss, while Marcel Barwanietz of Lincoln Memorial, who ranks second in the league in goals against average (1.04), tallied seven saves.
 
The Royals return to action one week from today at Mars Hill University on October 18.
