Softball drops two to the Cobras

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Queens softball team was on the road today to open conference play against the Cobras of Coker. Throughout the doubleheader the Royals struggled to get their offense going and dropped both games by the scores of 6-2 and 3-2.

In game one Coker scored three runs in the second, but the Royals were able to equalize in with three of their own in the fourth inning on a Megan Lathbury (Georgetown, Del., Sussex Central) double to left center. The game did not remain tied for long as the Coker offense picked up three runs in the fifth and held on for the victory.

In game to the Royals trailed from the first inning, but were able to bring the seperation to just one run in the fifth when two runs crossed the plate. But, the Royals were unable to carry that momentum into the final frame and dropped the second game.

Noemi Rodriguez (Miami, Fla., G. Holmes Braddock Senior ) led the Royals from the batter's box with two hits and Ashley Rollins (Fairfax, Va., Fairfax) only gave up three hits in five and two thirds innings pitched.

The Royals are currenlty 8-13 and 0-2 in conference play, and play next at Barton on Friday.
