Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Royals booted five into the back of the net this evening to defeat Brevard College 5-0 in men's soccer action at the Queens Sports Complex. Queens University of Charlotte now sits at 2-1 on the season, while the Tornados fall to 0-3 on the season.
Queens was in command of the game early as
Felipe Netto (Salvador, Brazil, Colegio Modulo) kicked the ball into the goal in a one on one opportunity with Brevard's keeper 34-seconds into play. He would follow with another goal fired from the right side in the 15
th minute to give the Royals a 2-0 lead.
Jeremy Chambers (Princeton, W.Va., Princeton Senior) assisted on the play. Queens kept attacking as
Julian Mitchell (Jacksonville, Fla., Wolson) dribbled the ball up the sideline from the back and placed the ball in the net at 24:54.
With a 3-0 lead, the Royals weren't finished as
Thiago Andrade (Salvador, Brazil, Colegio Modulo) entered the game at 26:07 and scored a goal at 26:56 increasing the home team's lead to 4-0. Andrade would net another just before the half ended giving the Royals a 5-0 lead heading into the locker room.
Both teams would go scoreless in the second.
Queens outshot the Tornadoes 13-3 with Netto taking five shots to lead the way.
John Rush (Jacksonville, Fla., Bolles) earned the shutout win in goal.
Brevard's starting keeper, Jack Shaw, finished the game with three saves.
The Royals are back in action on Saturday following the women's game at 7:30 p.m. in their conference opener with Pfeiffer University at the Queens Sports Complex.
