Royals holding Military Appreciation Game on Wednesday

The Royals will host Limestone College.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team set out this school year to find ways to give back to the community and discovered a way to help support the Military with the help of Hands on Charlotte. Queens will host Limestone College on Wednesday, March 21 for their first ever Military Appreciation Game.

The Royals, with the help of Hands on Charlotte, sent letters to a group of Marines overseas to show their support and appreciation for all that they do. They also packed care packages to send to the men and women serving our country, which included a 2012 season poster signed by the entire Queens team.

“This particular community service project is one we will never forget,” said Coach Meghan Dennehy. “It was very special because we formed a family with this group.”

Coach Dennehy kept in touch with a family member of one of the Marines through email and together they came up with the idea to hold a Military Appreciation Game where the group would be honored. Some members of the group who are currently back in the states will be in attendance for Wednesday's conference game against the sixth ranked Saints.

The game is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Queens Sports Complex.

Live stats and video will be available.
