Senators escape Royals

The Royals lost 78-77.

Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – Queens University of Charlotte traveled to face Davis & Elkins College for some non-conference action falling 78-77 to the Senators. The Royals are now 14-7 overall, while the Senators improve to 5-14 on the year after picking up their second win over Queens this season.

Antonio Stabler (Garner, N.C., Wakefield) led Queens tonight with 16 points, while Daniel Bailey (Irmo, S.C., Hammond ) added 13. Sean Eads (Greenville, S.C., Eastside) scored 10 points and dished out four assists. Bailey also grabbed eight rebounds.

Malik Tinsley led all players with 18 points for the Senators. Ian Pinckney recorded 14 points and five assists, while PJ Turner and D'Quan Lynch each scored 13 points. Lynch also totaled nine rebounds.

The first half was close seeing five ties and six lead changes as neither team went up by more than four points.

Queens played from behind for most of the second going down by eight with 8:16 to play. The Royals chipped away at D&E's lead closing the gap to one, 76-75, after a three-pointer scored by David Cheek (Graham, N.C., Graham). Pinckney then put the Senators back up by two connecting on the front end of a one-and-one. Lynch followed with a free-throw of his own putting the home team up three before Eads cut the lead back to one at the foul line. Bailey would have a chance to go for the win but came up short.

Queens will be back at the Grady Cole Center on Wednesday night to take on St. Andrews University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
