Queens Powers Past Austin Peay; Royals Clinch First-Ever Appearance in ASUN Championship Game

THE SHORT STORY
Making their second straight Atlantic Sun Tournament Semifinals appearance, the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team used a gritty performance to hold off a fierce Austin Peay squad and clinch their first trip to the ASUN Championship. The Royals used a balanced offensive attack as five players turned in double figures, including a team-high 21 points from freshman Jordan Watford.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Veteran Nasir Mann provided timely offense throughout the game and finished with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
-Yoav Berman earned the Street Dog of the Game recognition with 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
-Chris Ashby and Carson Schwieger combined for 19 points, with 15 of those coming from five threes.
-Sophomore Maban Jabriel provided another spark off the bench with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including a 3-for-5 clip from downtown.
-Despite only playing for 13 minutes due to foul trouble, Avantae Parker tied for the team-high with eight rebounds while adding four points.
-Rashaud Marshall led the Governors with a game-high 35 points while adding 13 rebounds.

NOTABLE MOMENTS
-The first nine minutes of action were a battle as both offenses exchanged buckets, resulting in four ties and six lead changes as Queens took a 19-18 lead into the second media timeout. The Governors got all 18 points during this span from the paint while the Royals connected on eight shots, including three from behind the arc. Yoav Berman led the early scoring with six points on a pair of triples.
-Leading 28-24 with 6:55 remaining in the first half, Queens strung together a 7-2 run behind four quick points from Jordan Watford to grab the largest lead of the half at five. The Governors answered right back with a 6-0 surge on back-to-back triples from Tate McCubbin to bring the score to 33-32.
-Holding a one-point lead with 1:39 remaining in the first half, Queens put together an 8-2 run behind triples from Carson Schwieger and Yoav Berman to take a 47-40 lead into the break.
-Coming out of halftime, Austin Peay jumped out with a 6-0 run to cut the deficit back down to one.
-Trailing 67-61 with 9:31 remaining in the game, Austin Peay put together an 8-2 run behind six points from Tate McCubbin to cut the Royals lead back down to two heading into the under-eight media timeout.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Austin Peay won the battle on the glass 43-35 and turned 12 offensive rebounds into 16 second-chance points.
-Queens forced the Governors into 10 turnovers and capitalized with 15 points off those miscues.
-The Royals depth was on full display all night, outscoring the Governors' bench 36-4.
-Five different Royals reached double figures in the same game for the 16th time this season, as they are one of 1-of-3 programs to have six guys averaging double figures.
