Queens women's soccer shuts out King

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte shut out King College tonight in women's soccer action defeating the Tornado 2-0. The Royals improve to 3-2-1 in league action and 5-7-1 on the year with the home win, while King falls to 2-5-1 in Conference Carolinas and 3-6-1 on the season.

Tonight's win ends a two game losing streak for the Royals and gives keeper Kelsey Seretis (Norfolk, Va., Maury) her fourth shutout of the year. The junior tallied four saves in the match.

The Royals netted both goals in the second half with freshman forward Mary Stringini (Shorewood, Minn, Minnetonka) feeding the scorer on each. Queens' first goal came in the 58th when Stringini slid a pass from the middle to Brooke Foil (Knightdale, N.C., Knightdale) racing in from the right side. Foil booted the ball past King's keeper, Morgan Lawson, for the first goal of the night. A little over five minutes later Nadia Butt (Houston, Texas, Cypress Lakes) would meet a pass from Stringini in the box taping it into the net just past Lawson for the 2-0 lead.

Queens outshot the visiting Tornado 26-6 and won nine corner kicks to King's one.

The Royals are back in action Saturday at North Greenville University at 4 p.m.
