CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens' men's soccer team picked up their second conference win of the young season Tuesday night at the Queens Sports Complex, knocking off Pfeiffer University 1-0 in overtime.
With four minutes remaining in the extra frame,
Yannick Fischbach (Simpsonville, S.C., J.L. Mann) tempted the Falcon defense to one side of the net before dishing to
James Alexander (Charlotte, N.C., Olympic) for the 15-foot golden goal to end the game.
The Royals struggled offensively in the first half, tallying just two shots, opposed to the Falcons' five. That changed in the second half, as the Royals would apply enormous defensive pressure and outshoot the Falcons 15-3 in final 51 minutes.
Queens goalkeeper
Giancarlo Aristondo (Charlotte, N.C., South Mecklenburg) had two saves in the win, while Alex Moreno made six saves in the loss.
The Royals are back in action Saturday September 18th when they visit conference foe Coker College for a 4:00 p.m. match.
