White nets two in 3-0 win for Queens men’s soccer

Queens opens up conference play with 3-0 win.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Bryan White (Albany, N.Y., Bethlehem Central) of the men's soccer team netted two goals to help lead the Royals past the Knights of St. Andrews. Queens University of Charlotte defeated St. Andrews 3-0 tonight at the Queens Sports Complex improving their record to 2-1 (1-0 CC). The Knights fall to 0-4 on the season (0-1 CC).

White put the Royals on the scoreboard after firing a shot from the right side of the box. White's second goal of the season connected with the far corner of the net at 28:46. Patrick Morgan (Iron Station, N.C., East Lincoln ) earned the assist on the play. White came back in the 41st minute of play to score his third goal of the season. Jonathan Grajeda (Chester, N.Y., Monroe-Woodbury ) fed White a long pass from midfield and White booted the ball in to the back of the net from the left side.

Queens entered the second half with a 2-0 lead holding strong on the defensive end. In the 60th minute Jon Rektorli (Inverness, Ill., Barrington) broke away up the field feeding the ball to Justin Ferguson (Denver, Colo., Cherry Creek) who gave the Royals a 3-0 lead. Ferguson's shot came from inside the box.

The Royals outshot the Knights 15 to eight, and won six corner kicks to St. Andrews' zero. Queens was whistled for 11 fouls, while the Knights had 16. Giancarlo Aristondo (Charlotte, N.C., South Mecklenburg) recorded the shutout.

A.J. Roberts led the Knights with two shots. Andrew Pelfrey recorded four saves.

Queens will be back in action at home against Pfeiffer University on Tuesday, September 14th at 7:30p.m.
