Queens’ Schilling To Represent Germany in World Duathlon Championship

The international event is in Concord, N.C.

Queens University of Charlotte freshman cross country runner Alex Schilling (Dresden, Germany, Sportgymnasium ) has been selected to represent his native Germany at the 2009 ITU Duathlon World Championships. The championship will be held September 26 just north of Charlotte at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord.

Schilling, the German junior triathlon champion, will compete in the Under 23 Division (U23) of the 10k-run, 40k-bike, 5k-run event. Schilling came to Queens in the spring of 2009 and competed in his first season of track and is currently midway through his first ever cross country season, as well. Schilling's performances have helped the Royals earn a top 6 NCAA DII national ranking.
