Men’s soccer shutout at No. 7 Tusculum

Raines makes eight saves in the non-conference contest

GREENEVILLE, Tenn.- The No. 7 Tusculum Pioneers used a goal in each half to defeat the Queens Royals men's soccer team 2-0 in Greeneville, Tenn. The game marks the season opening contest for each team.

Queens held off the top-10 team for the first 26 minutes of play when the 2008 South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year Nick Rich assisted Andres Jarquin in the game-winner. Rich notched an insurance goal late in the game, the 70th minute.

The Royals offense was led by Logan Berrier with three shots. As a team, Queens registered 11 shot in the 90-minute contest.

Transfer goalkeeper Chris Raines made eight saves for Queens on 25 shots. Pioneer keeper Lance Moore made three saves.

Queens returns to the Queens Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park on Sept. 4 to host Newberry College at 6pm.
