WILSON, N.C.- Queens fought back from a 12 point deficit with 12 minutes to go in the second half and forced and extra period in the Conference Carolinas contest with Barton College Monday night in Wilson, N.C. The Bulldogs prevailed 85-76.
Queens (11-10 overall/10-6 CC) trailed by 10 or more points for most of the second half but a 10-2 run tied the game with 33 seconds to play. Jazmine Edmonds (Manassas, Va., CD Hylton) scored the last four points of the half, giving the Royals an opportunity to come home with a road win.
The Bulldogs(15-5 overall.10-6 CC) scored just two baskets from the floor in OT, scoring the rest from the free throw line. Barton outscored Queens 14-5 in overtime for the 85-76 victory.
For the Royals, Shakendra Hicks (Rock Hill, S.C., Rock Hill) registered a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Marissa Hudley (Charlotte, N.C., Harding University ) tallied 16 points, Edmonds 12 and Erin Goldner (Matthews, N.C., Piedmont) 11 points and five steals. Queens dominated the backboards 58-42.
For the Bulldogs, Esty Flores scored the game-high 31 points.
Queens closes out the three-game road swing on Thursday at Pfeiffer University before hosting Converse College on Saturday in a Valentine's Day buy one, get one free admission game.
